Discover the True You

Hi Beautiful! Ready to stop putting so much emphasis on NOT knowing your purpose, your ‘why’ and instead get reacquainted with you?! Ready to discover the true you?! There’s no time like the present, and as I often say to my oh-so-awesome, courageous clients, if not now, then when?

Step 1: Who am I Being?

I encourage you to take the time to reflect and look at the ways you are “BEing” (not what you’re DOING). What characteristics got you to where you are today? A few examples: courageous, committed, self-integral, responsible, loving, compassionate—or are you BEing the opposite: fearful, non-committed, not self-integral, irresponsible, angry or negative? If you need more examples of more characteristics, just Google them…

Often the way we show up in one area of our life with who we are BEing, is how we show up in all areas of our life. This is important to keep in mind if you want to make sure your ways of BEing are serving you well!

Make a commitment to “BEing” who you want to BE as you start to rewrite your story and align yourself with what you truly desire—this can only draw you closer to discovering your authentic inner purpose, your ‘why’.

Step 2: What’s my uniqueness?

Have you ever thought in addition to asking “what’s my why, my purpose?”, also ask “what does the world need from me?” You have natural abilities that are rooted within you. When you take some time to reflect—to pay attention to your interests, to your unique qualities, to what or who inspires you the most, and to what makes you feel happy—your why and purpose will become clearer. I encourage you to keep a journal to track these discoveries.

Step 3: Who am I?

Have you ever completed a personality assessment? It’s an amazing way to understand your traits and styles in a way that can serve you best. I always recommend Myers-Briggs and Anthony Robbins’ DISC Assessment. They’re free, fun to uncover and learn more about the unique you!

When you understand more about yourself and who you are, the next step is to allow yourself to vision, to dream—and then take action. Taking some sort of step or action towards your desires will create momentum, clarity and help you uncover your WHY. This is also the time when “FEAR” and the “HOW IS THIS EVEN POSSIBLE” feelings rear their ugly heads…now that’s a whole other topic, but just be in awareness and call out/label your FEAR—don’t allow it to keep you stuck!

Spoiler Alert! You’re not going to wake up one day and say, “oh yes now I know my ‘why’, my purpose.” Only through understanding yourself and taking action will you move forward into loving and living a life that’s congruent with your desires. And that’s where you’ll discover your ‘why’ and the true, authentic YOU!

Action = Clarity

If, after doing all of the above, you’re still struggling, I recommend you do something very simple: go and volunteer! Yup, that’s right—when we work at serving others, we are also learning about ourselves and our desires.
