Dream or Goal

It seems I've been asked the question on several occasions lately, "What's the difference between a dream and a goal?". I realize many people tend to think of a "dream"  like a fantasy, most likely not achievable. Maybe something like "fairy dust" and "unicorns", kind-of-child-like! Whereas a "goal", which we tend to relate more to from our work environments, seems more tangible, more solid especially as we follow the S.M.A.R.T guideline: specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, timely.

Over time I realized a DREAM is GOAL and a GOAL is a DREAM....you use the same series of thoughts, facts, images, emotions, imagination all while trying to achieve something.  I also learned, regardless of what you call it, DREAM or GOAL, the most important step to take is to first create the IDEAL with no boundries! Do this without knowing how you are going to achieve your DREAM or GOAL. I know, I know, I know, it sounds irresponsible, maybe even impossible, but it's not! You see, once the ideal is created,  then you put your plan into place to walk it out.  It's a much more powerful process!

If you stay within logic, a reliable reference, a particular method, a safe predictable place, then logic it will ALWAYS be!  If you let your thinking go beyond the unimaginable, with no boundaries, then you come back and put a plan together to make it happen, you'll be amazed at how this shift will change your life!

So, no matter what you call it, a GOAL or a DREAM,  that's not what is important, what's important and life changing, is to allow yourself permission to open the imagination to start thinking first without any boundaries!

Try it!
